Hello and Welcome to the Sunninghill FC official website,
Sunninghill FC had their most successfull campaign ever in the 2006-07 season with the team narrowly losing out on the Premier Division title going down in a title decider on the last day of the season 5-3 to champions Blackwater Valley.
The side started the season well winning 6 games, drawing 1 and losing 1 in the first half of the season going into the christmas break looking strong at the top of the table, with the highlight probably the 5-1 thrashing of Tivoli United, however they folded over christmas loosing us 3 points and valuably a 5 goals scored.
The team however maintained the poor cup form from recent years loosing in the quarter finals of both cups, but saved their better performances for the league where the team kept winning only dropping points away to 3rd place Frimley Town loosing 1-0 and the dissappointing 1-1 draw away to Spelthorne.
The team picked themselves up from that disappointment by guarenteeing themselves runners up spot in the league by hammering West End 8-1 away from home in what was probably the teams best performance ever, a 3 week break followed going into the title decider against Blackwater Valley, where the game was played at Spelthorne Sports FC, and the team came flying out from the off demolishing their opponents to go into the break 3-1 to the good. 2 goals early in the second half drew the game level at 3-3 and with us needing the win the team lacked the experience to gain control of the match again and Blackwater hit us on the break to finish the game as 5-3 winners and league champions for the second year in a row.
This season with a couple of new faces and all of last seasons squad remaining we are hoping to have another successful season and are looking to be challenging for the league title once again.
A big thank you also goes out to the Dukes Head pub in Sunninghill, whose generous sponsorship of the team has given it the solid foundations to push on and improve the standard of the club, not only behind the scenes but also the good facilities and hospitality shown to the players.
The pub has a friendly atmosphere so if you find yourself in the Sunninghill area pop in for a drink. The pub also has a pool table, large bar, beer garden and plasma screen TV showing live premiership and european football.
